With some familiar names and some new, I was excited to receive a review copy of ‘100 Word Bigger Zombie Bites’. With about 100 x drabbles and 10 x 250-word stories, it’s an easy collection to consume and yes, some of the stories do bite!
Despite their brevity, some stories are heart-wrenching, some horrifying and some leaving something in your mind that … lingers. The anthology was fairly strong as a whole; very few stories felt they didn’t stand up as well, which is impressive for so many tales.
I particularly liked the idea of the postcards at the end — this was a lot of fun and made the entire collection come together well.
My particular favourites were:
- Grave Business by Andrew Kurtz
- Preventative Measure by Joel R Hunt
- Zombie Pigs from Mars by Pete Aldin
- Spelling Kills by C.H. Williams
- Going to the 100 Country by T.D. Ricketts
- Like a Flinch by Margery Bayne
- Reborn by Nerisha Kemraj
- Heartbeat by Alexandria Maaser
- Exit, Grave Left by Umair Mirxa
